Barco paint powder offers versatile colouring options for various confectionery items, including chocolate, cake batter, fondant, buttercream icing, royal icing, hard candies, glazes, and meringues. To apply the colour, simply incorporate the powder directly into chocolate, fondant, batter, buttercream, and similar mediums. Mix, blend, or knead thoroughly until the desired hue is achieved.
Furthermore, the powder can be blended into Quick Paint, Paint Base, or pure lemon extract, creating a mixture suitable for painting onto surfaces like fondant, gelatin balls, and chocolates. For this, combine equal parts of Red Label Powder and the chosen medium in a small bowl. Ensure thorough mixing before starting the painting process. Stirring frequently is important as the colour may settle at the bottom over time.
The powder is also well-suited for dry brushing onto gum paste or fondant flowers, among other designs. To do this, dip a brush into the powder, tap off any excess, and then test the color by brushing it in a circular motion on a paper towel. Once the correct shade is achieved, apply the same technique to gum paste or fondant designs. This method is particularly effective for enhancing sugar flowers. For intricate details, a small round-headed brush works best, while a wider, flatter brush is more appropriate for covering larger areas.
NOTE: Colours such as reds, purples, blacks and often browns develop to a darker shade over time, allow 2 hours for colour to develop once mixed into fondant etc.
It is advised that these powders be blended in to ph neutral product. An acidic product may change the colour of some colours – purple may turn blue, brown or black may become greenish.
