The reason Swedish Tonic was founded was quite simple. We wanted really good tonics, and we couldn’t find any we liked ourselves. We simply realised that we had to do it ourselves!
Unfortunately, the tonic market is characterised by white sugar, flavourings and additives. We think that’s crazy! Our philosophy is that nothing beats natural ingredients. That’s why we always work with real ingredients instead of an artificial substitute.
We use Cinchona bark from Ecuador to extract quinine which is the base of all our tonics, agave syrup from Mexico for sweetness and of course for acidity we use real juice from orange, lime and lemon. If we make an elderflower tonic we use real elderflower and if we make a ginger beer we use real ginger. It doesn’t get any harder than that!
All the tonics we saw were transparent. Quite remarkable, we thought, considering that tonic is made from cinchona bark. Have you ever seen a transparent tree? We certainly haven’t! We started squeezing, blending, straining and boiling.
And the secret? Swedish Tonic is actually quite unique. No junk, just good stuff! Amber tonic, not transparent. Made in small batches. Brewed, strained, blended, filled and sealed – all with our own hands! Real cinchona bark. Real citrus fruits. Agave for sweetness and juniper and spices for bite.
All our products are alcohol-free or available in a non-alcoholic version. We want to help accelerate the development of non-alcoholic alternatives, normalising that it is of course just as good to skip consuming alcohol. We do this by being inclusive and releasing products that are suitable for everyone.
