Turkish flatbreads are softer than pitas and make a great enclosure for delicious fillings. These breads are easily prepared on top of the stove using a Le Creuset Toughened Non-Stick Square Grill.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Use the dough hook of your electric mixer. Place the yeast, sugar, water, milk, olive oil and salt into the bowl of the mixer. Mix well for about 1 minute. Add the flour and mix again at low speed. Once a dough forms, knead the dough for 10 minutes in the mixer
- Brush the dough with a little olive oil and cover the bowl with cling wrap. Let the dough rise until double in size. Remove the dough and place onto a floured surface. After kneading the dough, divide it into 6 parts. Roll out each of these parts thinly into an oval shape
- Heat a Le Creuset Toughened Non-Stick Square Grillit over a medium heat. Place one bread at a time in the pan. Grill for about 1 – 2 minutes on one side until bubbles appear on top of the bread, and golden char line marks are visible when turned over. Grill for another minute
- Place the bread on a clean kitchen towel and cover with another kitchen towel. This will keep the breads soft and warm. Repeat with the rest of the breads. Serve the breads with slow-roasted lamb, hummus, cucumber with yoghurt, and roasted vegetables
Cook’s notes: Each flat bread takes 5 minutes to grill.
